Cardiac Ablation Procedure

Restoring Normal Rhythm with Precision Care

Cardiac ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to correct heart rhythm problems, also known as arrhythmias, by targeting and treating the specific areas of heart tissue that are causing irregular electrical signals. At US Heart and Vascular, our experienced electrophysiologists perform this advanced procedure to help patients achieve long-term relief from symptoms like palpitations, dizziness, fatigue, or fainting.

Why Cardiac Ablation May Be Recommended

Your heart relies on a series of electrical signals to beat in a coordinated, consistent rhythm. When these signals misfire or travel abnormally, it can result in arrhythmias such as:

  • Atrial fibrillation (AFib)
  • Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT)
  • Atrial flutter
  • Ventricular tachycardia

If medications aren’t effectively managing your symptoms, or if you’re seeking a long-term solution, cardiac ablation may be recommended to restore and maintain a healthy heart rhythm.

At Orion, our team will walk you through every step so you know what to expect and feel confident in your care.
During the procedure:

  • You’ll receive sedation or general anesthesia to keep you comfortable.
  • A small catheter is inserted through a vein (typically in the groin) and guided to the heart.
  • Using advanced 3D mapping and imaging, your physician identifies the area responsible for the arrhythmia.
  • Heat (radiofrequency) or PFA (Pulsed Field Ablation) non-thermal energy is delivered through the catheter to carefully destroy the targeted tissue causing the abnormal rhythm.
  • Once the source is treated, normal rhythm is typically restored.

You will be closely monitored and are required to stay on bed rest for several hours before you can be discharged to go home.

You may experience minor soreness or fatigue, but most people return to regular activities within a few days.

Follow-up care includes rhythm monitoring and a medication review, with many patients able to reduce or discontinue rhythm-controlling medications over time.

The effectiveness of ablation varies by condition, but many patients experience significant symptom relief and improved quality of life following the procedure.

At Orion, we’re proud to offer state-of-the-art cardiac ablation services delivered by a compassionate team of rhythm specialists. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed with an arrhythmia or have been managing symptoms for years, our goal is to provide personalized care that helps you feel better, live longer, and stay in rhythm.
